Slow But Steady Progress Underway

Getting things ready for racing action got a bit later start than planned due to Randy getting tied up in Florida for a few extra days, and some medical issues with Agnes, but we're on our way now folks. We were all pretty eager to get to the track to access what we'd be facing in order to get the place back in action. Let's just say we have quite a project ahead of us. We spent the first few days cleaning up and putting our "to-do list" in order. We seem to continue to run into little snags along the way but we're moving forward one step at a time. Step one would be getting all of the equipment back in working order. Getting parts ordered and battling Mother Nature has been a challenge but we're getting there. The mower got a workout today and if all goes well the rest of the equipment will be in action early next week. That will allow things to move along much quicker but there's plenty to be done before the gates swing open. Broken equipment and ugly weather may slow us down but it certainly won't stop us now.

Between mechanical projects we've been discussing details for the divisons and other plans for the season but nothing has been finalized just yet. Please be patient while we get the facility ready, and rest assured we're working on the rest meanwhile. Working out those details will be much easier once Anges is back up to full speed and the facility itself is closer to being race ready. It may not be fast enough for some of you but it sure feels good to to be making progress towards the return of racing action. As always, a huge THANKS goes out to those of you that continue to show strong support for Lakeville Speedway. Your support and patience is very much appreciated!

Lakeville Speedway Salutes Our 2011 Season Champions
Posted by Bob on Monday, September 26 @ 11:05:30 EDT (142 reads)
Results Sadly Mother Nature has once again cut our points season short by one week. While we all would have loved to see one more night of action to settle these points battles, it's just not possible for a few reasons. First, the 16th annual Ohio Dirt Blowout is this coming weekend and it's not fair to throw a points race in the middle of a big show. Moving the Blowout back a week simply won't work either since the 305 Winged Sprints will be running their own season championship night that weekend at Fremont. Another huge concern is the weather. The later we schedule a show, the better chance we'd have for colder and wetter weather. Therefore, our only choice is to end the points races right where they were and gear up for the Blowout weekend hoping for better weather. We'd like to congratulate our 2011 champions and also salute all of the racers and fans that have supported Lakeville Speedway throughout the entire season. You racers put on some great shows all season long and made these champions earn their titles. THANKYOU!

GEORGE LEE WINS AT LAKEVILLE SPEEDWAY
Posted by Bob on Sunday, September 18 @ 15:01:09 EDT (128 reads)
Results  George Lee from nearby Loudonville put on a clinic on working lap traffic on Friday night as he
took the checkered flag at Lakeville Speedway in the Late Model feature event. He had earned the pole
starting spot and wasted no time at all to take the lead that he kept for the twenty five laps. After a
lap three caution Lee was able to run in three different grooves as he tested the track and used the
test in the latter stages to hold off a charging Ryan Markham. At times Lee had put together a huge lead
but everytime he did a caution would bunch the field again. The lap traffic came into play at about the
halfway point and that is when he showed the talent that has made him one of the best. The fans were treated
to one of the best displays of weaving in and out of traffic without loosing an inch to the runnerup.Lee went
on to win as Markham ran second, points leader Charlie Duncan was third,Rick Bond was fourth and Mike Lonas
was fifth. The three heat wins were won by Bond,Markham and Ryan Eddleblute.Only forty points seperate the leader
Duncan over Lonas for the track championship that will come to an end on Friday September 23rd.Both have been champs
at Lakeville in the past.

Bob Daugherty held a very slim eight point lead over Josh Miller in the Pure Stocks as the nights racing started
and Miller only gained two points as both of the contenders experienced mechanical trouble and pulled out of the
feature in the early stages. That division battle for the title will also come down to next weeks final points race.
The feature was won by Jeremy Dickerson with Johnny Moore in second,Denny Shear gathered in third place,Charlie Dawson was fourth and Mark Bee was
fifth.Daugherty and Shear took the heat wins.

The 4 Cylinder Bombers are third third division that we have to wait until the checkered flag flies next Friday
to crown a champion as Michael Rose stayed within seven points of the leader by winning his second feature this year.
Bobby Stamper finished second and maintained that very skinny margin in the chase to the championship.Kyle Moore finished
third,Steve miller was fourth and Chris Priebe took fifth.

All Steve Foley has to do is start the feature next week to secure his second straight title in the Classic Cruisers
as he won yet another feature and the Crack The Whip race.Mason Radcliff finished second,Pauly Hess was third,Kayla Graber
took fourth and Kyle Pogue was fifth.

The kids of all ages got to enjoy many free gifts including bikes, gift cards and an array of special toys that were
provided by Big Dog,Eddleblutes Garage,Dzugan Safety Services, Various race teams,Bob and Judy Schippers and Lakeville Speedway.
Dont forget about the free ticket that you get when you enter the grandstand area each race night. One ticket will
be drawn on Friday night September 30th.and the winner will be rewarded with a 42 inch flat screen television.

Lakeville Speedway Salutes Dave Haven Sr.
Posted by Bob on Thursday, September 15 @ 20:30:56 EDT (147 reads)
Information
My racing weekend kicked off with a huge and pleasant surprise. As I was walking into the pits at Lakeville I spotted the Super 6 car headed towards the tech area with none other than Dave Haven Sr. behind the wheel. You might recall that Dave has been suffering from health issues for some time and the last time I saw him was late July. It was tough to see such a historic racer looking so weak but he went out of his way to shoot the shit with me which meant alot to me. At that point I figured we probably wouldn't see the old timer strapped into a race car again but hoped to see him in the pits again soon. Well, I must have underestimated this stubborn old fella because there he was Friday night strapped in and ready for action. I figured it was only right to do something special for him to show the appreciation from the entire racing community for such a determined racer. At intermission Dave wheeled his ride onto the front stretch to be honored by all of those in attendance. By this point of the evening Dave had already run his heat race and made it clear that he would be running the feature too. The crowd responded with a loud and long standing ovation. It's not often you get to honor a guy with 48 years of racing experience under his belt, and this will be a moment to remember forever. I'm very grateful that I could be a part of it. They just don't make racers like him any more for sure. Even with his health problems he ignored the incredible temperatures just to get back out there and do what he loves. RACE! And race he did, bringing the Super 6 car home in 7th place when the checkers flew in the feature. Damn it was good to hear that big ass Mopar engine roar by again. Thanks Dave for making my entire weekend one to remember and for all those years you've dedicated to racing. I salute you, Lakeville Speedway salutes you, and racers as well as race fans that recognize your dedication to racing salute you. We all salute you sir!
